An Oily Challenge

Quite a few people feel overwhelmed with the overall number of essential oils and other products that are available from Young Living. So here is our advice, “first of all, consider what is in the Premium Starter Kit, purchase one, and become an expert on those items.”
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 9th September 2015, we will be sharing one “infographic” each day for 14 days. Each day we will cover a different oil. Stay tuned for some great information.

Citrus Fresh

So let’s talk Citrus Fresh. All you need to do is look at this picture to see what it might be useful for. We always have a bottle of this in our home, and we get an extra one when the existing one gets below the halfway mark, we cannot do without it. Our favorite “use” is to use it in our diffuser and let the house fill with the nice citrus aroma, totally healthy.

Young Living – Juniper

We find that Juniper is a very under utilized oil. Many people claim that it is a great assist when it comes to detoxing the body. I add a couple of drops to a 16ml glass of water once a day.

If you want to incorporate Juniper into your essential oil collection, here are a few ideas how you can begin using it today:

Juniper is said to be useful in assisting with the break down and flushing of uric acid.

Diffuse Juniper during colds and flu to assist the body with proper immune function.

Diffuse during stressful situations to calm and quiet the mind.

Cats and oils

Essential oils for cats is a tricky topic, but it boils down to the quality of the oil you use.  Pure, therapeutic grade oils must be used, and there are some oils that should not be used at all on cats.  Young Living oils meet the “pure, therapeutic grade” criteria and even has “Animal Scents” products that are specifically designed for your pets.  Always check with your vet before using essential oils on and around your pet – especially if they have any pre-existing conditions that require medication.

Cats are sensitive to most synthetically made products and “natural products” as well as some essential oils.  Products that you use in your household may be toxic to your pets, so the more “green”, the better!   Make a switch to green cleaning supplies and diffusing healthy essential oils in your home – good for you and your pets.

Cats are “different”.  (We knew that, didn’t we?)  The reason behind this is the cat’s liver. It does not have the liver enzymes to break down chemicals effectively, and sometimes it can’t process those chemicals at all!  Just like our bodies, when the liver (and the body) does not recognize a substance, as with most synthetic compounds, it immediately stores it somewhere until it can figure out what to do with it! This can lead to toxicity, tumors, disease and extreme imbalances of the body.

Animals can not tell us what they are feeling and they are constantly bombarded with our lifestyle choices. So we must learn to look for and recognize the signs and symptoms of toxicity in our animals!

Here are some common signs :

A change in their sleeping or eating habits.

Lethargy, lack of energy, or not being “themselves”.

Digestive imbalances such as vomiting, constipation or diarrhea.

When you are diffusing oils in your home, remember your pets. Make sure you use the oil correctly and that it is well diluted.

Here are some essential oils for Cats that should be safe:

Clary Sage, Elemi, Frankincense, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Rosemary, Peace and Calming; there are others that are listed in some of the home remedies below.

Essential oils for cats should be highly diluted with a high grade pure vegetable oil. Dilute essential oils for cats (and all other smaller animals) at least 50:1 (fifty drops of dilution oil to one drop of essential oil).  Place a drop of the diluted oil on the inside of the paw or location of cut or injury. Place some in your hands and pet your cat gently ears to tail.

Diffusing oils is a great way to use essential oils for cats. Lastly, you could place a few drops in a sprayer with some water, shake it up and gently mist–(if you think you can get away with that method!)  😉

Ear problems: Use warm olive oil with lavender and clean the ear. Use it inside and outside of the ear. Dilute as described above.

Flea remedy: Make a dilution of Cedarwood and Lavender oil and brush it into the cat. If not too bad, make a spray mist with water and gently spray the cat to deter fleas.

Anxiety:  Use Valor for courage and Peace & Calming blend for anxiety and fear!

Always research a new oil thoroughly before using with your pets.  Our Facebook page (Essential Oils NC) provides a Young Living search engine for “oily education”.

Young Living also has a line of “Animal Scents” products.  Follow our link for ordering as a retail or wholesale member:
