Frankincense essential oil is one that has always peaked curiosities. It’s an oil that usually has a higher price tag, and has been considered the gift of kings since Biblical times. But it’s popularity is for a good reason, boasting so many uses, both topically, aromatically and therapeutically. The benefits of it being a disinfectant, antiseptic, expectorant, astringent, digestive, and anti-inflammatory make it a great addition to your essential oil collection.

Just a drop or two of this oil can go a really long way in relieving stress. Using on your temples or dilute in a carrier oil and rub on the back of your neck to help handle stress. Rub a little oil between the palms of your hand and take a deep breath to promote a sense of calm. Diffuse the oil to battle anxiety and promote relaxation and when diffusing in your bedroom, take slow, deep breaths through your nose and out of your mouth to fall asleep quickly and soundly. Add a few drops to a hot bath for a relaxing soak. If you prefer a shower to melt away stress, add a few drops to a washcloth and breathe in the soothing aroma once the hot water hits the cloth.

If you get restless legs when laying down or relaxing, apply Frankincense to the bottom of your feet, and rub into palms, cup hands, and inhale deeply to relax your body and mind.

After a wound or cut has healed, Frankincense can help fade scars – apply to affected area to promote skin healing. Frankincense essential oil is also a powerful astringent, which means it can help protect skin cells. Apply directly to the problem areas to help reduce acne blemishes and prevent wrinkles. If you’re noticing sagging skin in the abdomen, neckline or other areas, apply daily to help tighten skin and naturally slow the signs of aging. You can mix at a 50/50 ratio in a roller bottle with a non-comedogenic carrier oil, like Jojoba oil to ease application. We always recommend you do a patch test first for possible allergic reactions.

You can reduce swelling and discomfort from insect bites by placing a few drops on the bite several times a day. Because of it’s antiseptic properties Frankincense also helps to speed up wound healing including burns, scrapes and cuts and keeps infection at bay.
